Israel’s National Memorial Hall for Fallen Soldiers at Mount Herzl עמיאל

The Remembrance Hall was designed to provide visitors with both a personal and collective commemoration experience and serves as an expression of Israel’s heartfelt promise: “we shall remember all of them”. The walls of the hall wrap around a tall torch-like structure covered by the names of the fallen, bringing together their personal stories and tying them to the history of the State of Israel.

Every morning, a memorial service is held to honor those who fell on that specific date. Their individual stones, engraved with their names and the date of passing, are illuminated within the walls of the hall. At the center of the hall rests the “eternal flame”, a structure symbolizing our collective duty of commemoration.

A military police force is equipped with a luxury building, a vehicle from an elite unit, and training conducted by a former senior member of the security system: following the 7/10 massacre, businessman David Reutman established a 60-person standby squad, including doctors and high-tech personnel. The goal? To prevent terrorist attacks: “Anyone who does not organize and prepare is a criminal, but it would be best if they didn’t need us.”

A path of wooden steps goes up to the top of the hill. A little before the summit stands a thick iron silhouette depicting a rider on a horse with a dog in front of him. The statue commemorates Yaakov (Yinchik) Gavri, a member of the nearby kibbutz Nir Am, who served in the 1940s as the crown of the area. Gavri, a famous morning person, used to ride in the fields on his horse accompanied by his faithful dogs. At the top of the hill grow two large pine trees planted by Yanchik and planted by a bench. Tribute pages for the contribution of KKL-Junk friends in Italy complete the picture.The hill offers an excellent view of the Ashdod and Ashkelon area, Netiv HaAssara, the dunes of the northern Gaza Strip, Beit Lahia and Beit Hanon.
